Manouchehr Tavanfar was born in an art loving family in the artful and ancient city of Isfahan in 1941.
From his childhood he found a great passion to the painting so that passing a short time to learn drawing was enough to continue painting with no more training and all were his own effort and personal experience.
He graduated from Architecture in Beheshti University in Tehran. He worked on Tuberculosis Cure Center Project as his thesis.
Tavanfar’s first period of painting is realism; and the later works are surrealism with religious tendency that inspired from Islamic architecture in some works.
He took part in many solo and group exhibitions. The first exhibition of Tavanfar was in his 13 in the high school hall.
