Iraj Shayestehpour
Contemporary painter and poet, born in 1946 in Tehran
Graduated from Agriculture faculty of Gotigen, Germany; returned to his country, Iran in 1970. He published his first poems collection entitled as “Tired Songs of Flight” in 1980; His second book “Remembering Young Winds” was published in 1983. Two more poem collections by this artist “Dawn of Nostalgia” and “Poetic Times” and some articles on art are under print.
Shayestehpour has gained a master position in “Tay Chi Chouan”, a Chinese martial art based on concentration and respiration; It is worth mentioning that his poems are mostly influenced by this concentration sport. He has a long four years trip from Europe to Africa which has left a good effect on his literary and painting works. It is interesting to know that in an exhibition of his works in Shabnam Gallery, Museum of Contemporary Art and Center for Visual Art, 12 works of the artist were purchased for the treasury of the said museum.
