| Born In: | Shiraz, Iran | | Living In: | USA | | Biography: | I was born in 1966 in Shiraz, and then moved and raised in Tehran. In Feb.1999, I immigrated to USA/Oregon and have lived there since then. I hold an A.S in Science from Portland Community College (1999-02), and B.S in Computer Animation from Westwood College/Denver (2005-08). My familiarity with watercolor started with related classes I took during my first college experience under instructions from Mark Smith and Hillary Barsky.
I find tranquility and deep satisfaction in painting as if I am high in the sky. I believe to be concerned about the market and what sells or not can negatively affect this feeling and the work accomplished. Therefore, I try my best to stay loyal to what my inner tells me to draw or paint to speed my development.
There are many different techniques that I use in my watercolor, but before that composition is first. For large size paintings, I try to have a pre-sketched plan drawn in my sketch book before hand. It is good to know what I am doing before starting any serious work. I use my sketched drawing as a blue print and then start working with colors on my watercolor paper. I try to avoid using pencil on my watercolor paper since I do not like the marks left behind. When I do not have any plan, I mix colors on my watercolor paper randomly and wait for it to dry. Then I look at the shapes formed and pull new shapes out of it (see “Jumping Fish” as an example).
