Nessa was born and raised in the fast paced city of Tehran, Iran. She comes from a rich Persian cultural heritage, where interests in art, culture and poetry led her into the wonderful profession of a becoming a successful artist. With a family made up of artists, jewelers, graphic designers and talented musicians there was no doubt that in time this dream would in fact become a reality.
She started taking painting lessons at the age of 11 and by the time she was 17, she was already working as a professional portrait artist. In February 2000 she obtained her B.A in Visual Art with an emphasis in painting from Azad Art and Architecture Tehran University. She has experience in teaching and not only in private classes but group sessions as well. She studied and worked as an artist in Paris and traveled all around Europe (Sweden, Norway, Italy, Austria, Germany, and Switzerland) studying old European art and culture. Eventually she would make it to United States and work as a freelance artist in sunny Southern California.
With all the moving and living around the world it made a positive impact on her style of art. She formed her own style which would lead her into the world of abstract expressionism. She would apply these ideas and visions of abstract landscapes and celestial ambiances onto her canvases and paper. Some even illustrate the stories of her mother language (Farsi) or pieces of Iranian poetry in the art itself. So in a sense you’re on the fence of both realism and abstract and being motivated by both getting the best of both worlds.
Foggy elements and the colors of nature are the driving forces behind Nessa’s art. Her portfolio is a true symbol of an artist’s ability to create imaginative powerful paintings. By combining the unique ability to see art in nature along with the mastery of her techniques and colors she is able to get this message across. After she gets the ideas from nature she translates them into these mesmerizing abstract paintings which is how she has made a name for herself in today’s art world. These images she captures are so special because it allows you to view different moments of life as if you were seeing it through another set of eyes other than your own. Everyday you can get some form of positive energy from her paintings and start your beautiful day with a new spirit.
The canvases and papers are first covered with a thin- plaster/gel layer mixed, then worked into with acrylic paint and finished with a semi glass varnish. This heavy technique on the canvas creates a coated bright sense of the work that apparently changes in different shades of light to that cloudy back round. She puts different layers of colors on top of each other to create special textures and then fades them in the soft background with 2-3 different shades of colors to create a dreamy mood for the viewers. She wants to create something different from what your eyes usually see in the natural world, she wants to show you special ways to look at the beautiful world. Her smaller canvases making up the sets of the “Landscapes” are made with the palette knife and brushes to melt the colors together, and create a rich, layered look to the work. Abstract and abstract landscapes have become Nessa's preferred subject matter as she feels that it is in these ambiance landscapes that she can express her passion/ perception of the abstract compositions as well as international understanding language of abstract and abstract landscaping art.
