| Statement: | Roya Hosseini started to draw designs under the late master "Ostad Sabba" from 1357 (1978). After graduation from University of Tehran in Chemical Engineering, she started to work with oil colors. During this period she was completely under the influence of "Realism" and Russian painters like "Ilia Reppin". Description of the social issues through this style and the commentary on it were among the reasons she became so fond of it. In the process of working with oil colors she was introduced to the impressionist method, usage of colors, analyzing of the colors, degrees of shade, and the movement of light on objects which to this day is observed in her paintings. Great painters like "Pierre Auguste Renoir (1814-1919)", "Edgar Dega" and "Camille Pissaro (1831 – 1903)" have had the most effect on her work. In the meantime she has succeeded in receiving with honors, a diploma for rug designing form "Sura Institute of Higher Education". Various travels and visits of the world's art museums resulted in recognition of the history of art. Having close contact with the paintings of "Edward Manet (1832 – 1883)" during one of her trips, she became interested in this artist's works of art. In "Manet's" paintings, subject is of no importance and only lines, colors, and forms are considered; these are the exact things that thrill Roya. Developing a tender feeling toward nature, cleansing of the soul, and closeness to the nature which its lack can clearly be observed in today's life, are some of the reasons she was drawn to "Naturalism". Works of this style relate to the viewer without any specifications from the artist, and "man" imprisoned by the necessities of the modern life is put directly in contact with the nature. From 1376 (1997), she chose to work with water colors. This choice became definite through simplicity, modesty, innocence and tenderness of the water colors and the ability to express a fleeting emotional experience at the same instant. The unpredictable nature and the rotation of the ability between having and not having control, made water colors her most exciting tool and the grounds for her non-stop work of the kind. Light is amply employed for the expression of internal phenomena in her paintings. The beautiful mixing of reality and romantic imaginations where at times is difficult to differentiate between the two, is one of her specialties, finding the moment filled with feelings and its transition from her mind to the viewer. Roya Hosseini has benefited from the schools of masters like "Jamal-eddin Khorminejad" and "Siavosh Mazloomipour" and has participated in more than twenty personal and group exhibitions in several Iranian cities. She has always believed in "Paul Cézanne's" saying: painting from nature is not copying the object; it is realizing one's sensation. | | Biography: | Group Exhibition
